DELTA SIGMA OMICRON
THE STORY SO FAR

Delta Sigma Omicron started way before the establishment in August 2014. A group of people, scattered across the area of Zoetermeer and surroundings, decided to be friends. Most of these people played football on a weekly basis. Some of them even played at a high level of football. This group of friends had other friends and those other friends had more different friends. As you might imagine, the group of people involved were growing in numbers. In the spring of 2013 there was a game between DSO and BSC'68. It turned out that this game was important to the DSO team. They could win the league, if they’d won that game. It turned out later that in the year DSO did not win the league due to the actions of BSC'68. Obviously, DSO didn't feel great about this. Everyone wants to lift the trophy at the end of a season. Aside from the football, those two teams had one thing in common, they were friends with each other. This friendship turned into an idea later that year. In the spring of 2014 a WhatsApp group was created. The purpose of this group was to create a football team, a team full of friends. Those friends became Delta Sigma Omicron and have been ever since. Delta Sigma Omicron used to stand for DSO, but now it has surpassed the club and is the trademark of a group of friends.

People left, people joined. The chat became a highway of people who wanted to join and slowly but surely the team was formed. 16 players ready to dominate the youth ranks of the Dutch football league. It turned out that five clubs merched into this team. Players from DSO, BSC'68, DWO, FC Zoetermeer and Stompwijk '92 became one team. Friendship bested the rivalry and DSO A3 was created. The first season was a medioker season, no trophies were lifted and a few players left the team. Thankfully, others joined the team and our adventure would take us to the top flight, age wise, of Dutch football.

We started of as DSO 11 and during that season we had to adjust to the playstyle of other teams. We were quite young, compared to the teams full of dads. We learned that physique was a big part of the football our opponents played. The next season we stormed our league as DSO 12, we were demoted. It turns out that even bright men need leadership, especially after being demoted. We appointed Gerrit Taal as a coach and he gave us his unbiased opinion on games. That year we became better at controlling the physical approach of certain teams. Only one team was too radical to adjust to and that turned into a brawl on the field. Let's just say that people got hurt and it was nobody's fault. The next season we climbed up the ranks as DSO 5. At the start of the season we appointed another coach in Dave Louer. He also started training us and our fitness increased rapidly. Unfortunately, our trophy cabinet remains empty, but the future is bright for us. After Covid-19 we decided to take a step back and focus on a slow progression through the national ranks. Since the 2023/2024 season we go by the name DSO 6.
